How do you know your skin type before booking a facial?
Cleveland Clinic describes a simple check: wash your face, dry it, wait 30 minutes, then press a blotting paper against your skin and see how much oil comes off.
- Oil across the whole face, with shine and larger pores: oily
- Tight, rough, or flaky: dry
- Oil from the forehead, nose, and chin but not the cheeks: combination
- Red, itchy, or stinging: sensitive, which can overlap with any of the other three
Your type can shift. Cleveland Clinic notes that skin can change between summer and winter, and with hormonal changes such as puberty or pregnancy. Dallas makes that swing wide: months of heat and sun, long days in air conditioning, then drier winter air. The facial that suited you in August may be the wrong pick in January.
If the check leaves you unsure, book the First Time Glow Facial ($89, 60 minutes). It includes a full skin analysis, and it is the gentlest introduction if you have never had a professional facial.
Which facial is best for oily skin and clogged pores?
Book the Classic Deep Cleansing Facial ($99, 90 minutes). Cleveland Clinic explains that with oily skin, extra oil can clog pores and lead to acne. This facial goes after that buildup with double cleansing, exfoliation matched to what your skin tolerates, thorough extractions, and a purifying mask. It is also the facial our male clients book most.
Leave extractions to a professional. The American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) warns that squeezing blemishes at home can cause permanent scars, more noticeable acne, and infection.
Which facial is best for dry or dull skin?
Book the Hydrating Glow Facial ($119, 90 minutes). It uses gentle exfoliation, layers of hydration, and a finishing mask for skin that feels tight, flakes, or looks dull.
Climate plays a part. Cleveland Clinic names climates that lack humidity among the causes of dry skin, and a Dallas summer means heat and sun outside, then cooled, drier air inside for most of the day. Our post on daily habits for glowing skin in Dallas heat covers the home routine between visits.
Which facial is best for acne-prone skin?
Book the Acne Facial ($120, 60 minutes) when you have active breakouts. It is a calmer protocol than the deep cleansing facial: the goal is to bring inflammation down, with extractions only where the skin allows. For breakouts on the back, the Back Facial ($119, 60 minutes) brings deep cleansing, exfoliation, and extractions to skin you cannot reach yourself.
Plan on a short series, usually two to three weeks apart at first, then a regular schedule once your skin settles. The AAD says acne care can take several weeks to a few months to show a difference, so one facial will not clear a breakout.
A facial supports acne care and does not replace medical treatment. That holds for the breakouts many people call hormonal acne, the ones that return to the same spot on the same schedule. Deep, painful cysts need a dermatologist, and the AAD recommends seeing one if breakouts continue despite consistent care.
Which facial is best for sensitive skin or rosacea?
Start with the First Time Glow Facial ($89, 60 minutes). After that visit Berenice recommends which facial to continue with, and sensitive skin tends to do better with six to eight weeks between appointments.
Cleveland Clinic points out that sensitive skin can come with an underlying condition such as eczema or rosacea. Only a medical provider can diagnose those. If a dermatologist has told you that you have rosacea, say so when you book. The AAD advises people with rosacea to avoid rubbing, scrubbing, and massaging the affected skin, and to stop exfoliating, so ask your dermatologist if a facial fits your treatment plan. Berenice skips or adapts those steps.
Which facial is best for combination skin?
Combination skin is oily through the forehead, nose, and chin and dry on the cheeks. Choose by what bothers you more: the Classic Deep Cleansing Facial if blackheads come first, the Hydrating Glow Facial if tight cheeks do. Either way, ask Berenice to work by zone, with more purifying on the T-zone and more hydration on the cheeks.
Which facial helps with texture, acne scars, or fine lines?
The option on our menu is the Microneedling Facial ($189, 120 minutes). According to the AAD, microneedling prompts the body to make collagen and is used for acne scars, uneven texture, large pores, and fine lines.
Expect a series. For acne scars the AAD describes 3 to 5 treatments spaced 2 to 4 weeks apart, with some improvement in a few weeks and full results after several months. Treated skin can feel sunburned for a few days to a week, and results vary from person to person.
The AAD says to postpone microneedling after recent sun exposure, with an active skin infection, or with pimples that are painful or full of pus, and to wait at least a month after a course of isotretinoin. It also says to skip it if you get keloid scars or heal slowly. Read what to expect from microneedling before you book, including what to ask your doctor if you are pregnant.
If firmness is your main concern, ask about Facial Rejuvenation ($165, 75 minutes), the anti-aging facial on the menu.
Is a facial package or the membership worth it?
On a 4 to 6 week schedule, a package lowers the cost per visit. The Glow & Hydration Facial Package is 3 facials for $249, which works out to $83 a visit. The BC Beauty Membership is $99 a month and includes one facial each month, 10% off other treatments, and a free skin consultation. Both are on the packages and membership page.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a facial cost at BC Beauty Spa in North Dallas?
The facials in this guide run from $89 to $189: First Time Glow $89, Classic Deep Cleansing $99, Hydrating Glow $119, Back Facial $119, Acne Facial $120, Facial Rejuvenation $165, and Microneedling $189. The Glow & Hydration Facial Package is 3 facials for $249, or $83 a visit. Current promotions and first visit offers show on the services page.
What happens if I book the wrong facial for my skin?
Little is lost. Every facial at BC starts with a skin analysis, and Berenice adapts the cleansing, exfoliation, and mask to what she sees. If a different facial would serve you better, she tells you and you can book it next time.
Can I get a facial while I have active acne?
Yes. The Acne Facial is built for active breakouts. Microneedling is the one to postpone until breakouts calm down. If you have deep, painful cysts, see a dermatologist first.
Which facial helps with dark spots or melasma?
No facial on our menu is sold as a dark spot treatment. The AAD calls sun protection one of the most common treatments for melasma and recommends a broad-spectrum, water-resistant sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher every day, a habit the Dallas sun makes hard to skip. For uneven tone, Berenice may suggest a short series of facials two to three weeks apart. Melasma is a medical condition, so see a board-certified dermatologist for treatment.
How long does a facial appointment take?
Between 60 and 120 minutes. The First Time Glow, Acne, and Back facials are 60 minutes, Facial Rejuvenation is 75, Classic Deep Cleansing and Hydrating Glow are 90, and the Microneedling Facial is 120.
